We're not here to tell you what to drink — Wonder Water is all about helping you to enjoy your nights out by simply incorporating a few refreshing glasses of water into your drinking routine.
Having a great night out may well include alcohol, but we're here to make you aware of the thirst-quenching, hangover-busting, invigorating liquid that is H2O. By keeping topped up with water throughout a night's drinking, you're much more likely to stay in control, feel fantastic and avoid that nasty hangover in the morning.
Our aim is quite simply to help make you aware of the numerous benefits of drinking Wonder Water and ensure that you have the best night out possible in Leeds!
Wonder Water was born in 2014 at Leeds Ball where we handed out delicious fruit-infused water from the Wonderbar, keeping everyone cool, hydrated and happy. We like to think this meant that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing pit-stop before they went into the Ball.
Everyone had such a great time doing it that we'll be there this year too. You'll not only be able to bag yourself a glass on the way in, but we'll also be on the dance floor, delivering you the energising fluid with our portable dispensers. So if you're feeling hot, sweaty and you're thinking about another drink, keep your eyes peeled for us!
The first and most important thing to remember is that you can get Wonder Water anywhere. If you head down to Leeds University Union you can pick up your own Wonder Water sports bottle so you can keep yourself topped up with H2O anywhere for free.
You can also quench your thirst at any of our three Wonder Water fountains across campus, so no matter where you are you can always sup up and feel wonderful. You can find the fountains opposite the Student Advice Centre, next to the Unipol Office on floor -1 at the Union and next to the Hidden Cafe.
If you want to enjoy your water with a twist of all-natural fruit flavouring, then head over to our Wonderbar which currently runs on two Fruity’s a month in term time! Find out where and when you can find the Wonderbar here
Having a great night out is thirsty work. Luckily, keeping on top of your hydration couldn't be simpler. Taking a second to indulge in a refreshing glass of water now and then throughout the night could reduce the need to down an alcoholic drink just to quench your thirst, so you’ll savour every sip of your next hard-earned tipple!
Nothing tastes like water feels, and although it's tempting to head straight to the bar once you've drained your last pint, just by including water into the round now and then will help keep you going. What's more, you'll be pleased you did the morning after. A hangover is mainly made worse because of dehydration, so feeding your body the liquid it will be craving is the best way to reduce this nasty side-effect.
Within The Union, you'll find the Wonderbar at Fruity Friday throughout the year. However, here in our online Wonderbar, we've put together some great mock-tail recipes for you to try out and vary your night's drinking.

Every alcoholic drink available has an Alcohol By Volume (or 'ABV' for short) percentage rating as well as a unit value attached to it. But what does this actually mean?
While ABV is an exact measurement of alcohol in any given volume of liquid, units are a measurement created by the UK government: one unit is equal to 10ml of pure alcohol. This measurement of units makes it easier to get a handle on how much alcohol is in your bloodstream as we know that it takes roughly one hour to process a single unit (although this does vary from person to person, depending on numerous factors such as build and height).
It is recommended that men should not regularly drink more than 3-4 units of alcohol a day and women should not regularly drink more than 2-3 units a day. “Regularly” means drinking alcohol every day or most days of the week.
Did you know: Binge drinking is defined as drinking more than TWICE the daily limit? That is 8 units (about 3 pints of beer) of more for men and 6 units (equivalent to 2 large glasses of wine) or more for women
All good things must come to an end, and when you've had a great night we want to make sure you make it home safe and sound, so we've got a whole host of resources here to help you do just that with some links to find out more information.
There's more than one way to get home and plenty of help should you need it throughout Leeds in the form of the Street Angels and the Safe Spaces initiative.
We hope you're next night out is a blast and that you've acquired a new-found love and appreciation for the greatness of H2O, learned a little about what you're drinking on a night out and how to stay happy and healthy!
